Care4Suffolk recognizes that farm and forestry lands are not just open lands waiting for development. Agricultural land provides significant benefits to a community including: improves water quality by filtering run-off, protects against soil erosion, offsets greenhouse gas emissions, keeps property taxes lower, provides habitat to wildlife, it is more visually attractive and creates a higher quality of life for citizens. 

Agriculture is also big business for Suffolk and generates roughly $462 million of direct and indirect economic impact for the City. Yet Suffolk has lost about 17% of its farmland over the last 20 years and the pressures of development are making it harder for farmers to continue to farm. Care4Suffolk wants to make it easier to connect residents with local producers, so you can obtain fresh products and help preserve agriculture in Suffolk.
